DAVIS DEFEATS NEWMAN. By Telegraph—Press ’ :sn.—Copyright. Received Oct. 6, 11 p.m. London, Oct. 5. In the billiards time limit match J. Davis, with a score of 16,591, beat W. Newman, whose score was 16,264. Davis made breaks of 281, 255 and 186. Newman made breaks of 636, 297 and 239. Newman’s big break during the afternoon gave him a big lead, but Davis at the end of the afternoon session led by 19'5. Newman in the evening reduced tire lead to 95, but Davis, playing consistently, ran out a winner.
