BAYLY SCHOLARSHIPS

SPORTS EVENTS CONCLUDED NEW PLYMOUTH BOY THE WINNER RUNNER-UP FROM STRATFORD. Commenced at Stratford on September 26 and postponed on account .of wet 1 weather, the Bayly Memorial Scholarship sports were continued and concluded at the Stratford Technical High School grounds on Saturday. The weather was ideal and no difficulty fvas experienced in completing the sports between 10 a.m. and noon. In contrast to the soggy ground on which the competitors contested the first day’s events the surface was dry. on Saturday, though a little heavy after the recent rains. This probably accounts for the standard time of 65 .seconds not being reached in the. 440 yards. Besides the points given for places, points were awarded all competitors.who reached a certain standard in any event. Due to his winning the three kicking events,' J. Elmes (N.P.8.H.5.) proved the winner with 180 points. J. Richards (Stratford Primary), with 160 points, and R. Wilson (N.P.8.H.5.), 140, were second and third respectively.
