COASTAL MOVEMENTS. The Rata, which has been discharging 800 tons of coal, left New Plymouth for Westport early yesterday afternoon. (Cock and Co.). The Kaitoa, which arrived at New: Plymouth at 4 o’clock yesterday for Tarakohe, sailed later in the evening for Onehunga. (Cock and Co.). The John with cargo from Lyttelton is due at Wellington to-day, and is expected at New Plymouth on Monday, sailing next for the Waikato. (Holm and Co.). The Totara will leave Lyttelton tomorrow afternoon for Wellington and New Plymouth, arriving at New Plymouth on Tuesday. (U.S.S. Co.). The Corinna will leave Dunedin today for New Plymouth, via the usual ports. She is expected about Wednesday. • (U.S.S. Co.). The Port Victor, which is loading 15,200 freight carcases bf meat at New Plymouth for Genoa, was expected to sail for Auckland early this morning. RUPEHU EN ROUTE. The Ruapehu reached Colon last Saturday and sailed from Panama on Sunday, en route from London and Southampton to Suva, Wellington, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and New Plymouth, The vessel is scheduled to reach Wellington bn October 27, and is due here about the middle of November. ; -. MATAROA’S RECORD RUN. ■ The Mataroa, which took 5680 boxes of butter from New Plymouth’ by transhipment, made a record run from New Zealand to England via Panama. The vessel left Wellington at 7a.m. on August 28, and after traversing the Panama Canal called at Curacoa for fuel-oil supplies. By -making the run in a “sliade” over 32 days the Mataroa has cut fully 24 hours off the previous record which she established at the beginning of this year. On that occa- • sion the Mataroa made the passage in 33 days 3 hours 12 minutes, her actual steaming time being 31 days 19 hours 40 minutes. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
