CLASSIFICATION FOR TYPECommendation of the proposal of the Jersey. Breed Association to establish a system of classification, for pedigree stock was expressed by Air. C. A. Alarchant, president of the* Taranaki branch of the Friesian Association, at a meeting in Stratford yesterday. Mr. Alarchant foresaw a difficulty in the matter of cost, but stated that if a uniform standard of type could be-fixed to apply all over New Zealand there would be a decided advantage in classification. To his mifitl two or three Jersey judges would need to act in. conjunction in order to fix a standard of type. Aleanwhile Friesian breeders would watch the experiment with interest. ABROAD WITH DR. GORDON. “Aly Travels Abroad” formed the subject of an interesting lecture delivered in the town hall, Stratford, on Thursday by Dr. W. P. P. Gordon, who has but recently returned from a tour of the chief medical centres of Canada and the United States. The deputy mayor, Air. A. Nelson, presided over a good attendance. The proceeds are in aid of the Presbyterian Church funds, which should be augmented to an appreciable extent. Dealing with his subject in a comprehensive and colourful manner Dr. Gordon experienced no difficulty in holding the attention of his audience. Songs were given during the interval by Aliss Alassey, Alias McCormick and Air. J. J. Duncan. Aliss B. Alasters was pianiste. - ’ ’■ DEATH OF MRS. E. A. GRAY. General sympathy will be felt with Air. E. A. Gray, Finnerty Road, Lowgarth, in the loss of his wife at the age of GO years. Airs. Gray came to Taranaki from the Rangitikei district and since her marriage has lived continuously in the province, at least a third of her life having been spent at Lowgarth. In company with her husband, Airs. Gray saw the native bush give -way to grassed farm lands. She leaves a husband and six children. Wilfred, Rupert, Douglas and Arthur still remain in Taranaki and Jeffrey is employed near' Hamilton. Airs. E. J. Kilbride, Finnerty Road, is the only daughter living.
