Spence, of New Plymouth, undertook a business trip to Wellington. The trip was made in a Moth machine piloted by. Captain McGregor, of Hamilton. • > . The plane took , off from the Bell Block aerodrome yesterday afternoon, and early last night Mr. Spence telegraphed a private message to a member of the Daily News staff as follows:— “Splendid run; two hours ten minutes; last thirty miles through fog.” The return journey will be begun at 6 a.m. to-morrow in the hope that Mr. Spence, who is chairman of the executive of the New Plymouth Aero Club, may reach New Plymouth if possible before the arrival of the visiting Auckland planes. Captain McGregor will stay in New Plymouth during the weekend. The flight will give Mr. Spence about five hours practical flying experience for his pilot’s ticket.
