PLUNKET SOCIETY CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association Wellington, Last Night. Lady Hosking presided over the annual interim conference of the Plunket Society to-day. The annual report was read by Mrs. J. A. Johnstone and the financial statement by Mies Hoddinott. Dr. T. Derrick, medical director of the society, addressed members, dealing with the work among older children. He said the society might have some difficulties to face in this respect but this particular campaign of education should be carried on until children of school age were classed Al instead of C 3, to use a war-time expression. The work of the society should not finish when the child was fifteen or eighteen months’ old. The doctor mentioned the need for an increase in the society’s staff, which financially might prove a difficult problem, but he believed the public would give the necessary support. Dr. Derrick hoped shortly to have a circular dealing with - the pre-school child sent to all branches.
