WAITARA CYCLE RACING

A road race was run at Waitara yesterday under the auspices of the Waitara Club, the course being from Waitara to the Waiwakaiho golf links and back, about 15 miles. The event caused a good number of the, public to watch the races, and they were not disappointed in witnessing splendid finishes in both races. . The starters for the open race were: C. Parker scr, L. Roberts 60sec, C. Tippins 2min., J. Wigg 2min., E. Nodder 2min. 20sec., E. Oliver grain. 25sec., E. Young 3niin. 35sec., W. Huffam 4min., M. Wiley 4min. 35sec, The winner was C. Tippins (New Plymouth) who covered the distance in 42min. 20sec., closely followed by E. Nodder Plymouth) in 42min. 21 sec., and E. Oliver (Waitara) in 42min. 22sec. The messenger boys’ race drew six starters, who rode over a distance of about five miles around' two blocks' of the town. The race saw a good finish between D. Bolton (New Plymouth), who was first, and J. Limmer (Waitara), who was second, only a wheel separating them. Others to finish were Q. Tuffery R. Marshall 4, and J. Nixon 5. The time of the winner was 17min. 27sec.
