HIMATANGI FIRE TRAGEDY
FINDING OF STAINED AXE.' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last, Night. During an inspection of farm implements at the Westlake homestead, at Himatangi, prior to an auction sale, a prospective buj'er discovered what appeared to be a blood-stained axe. a short distance -from the whare. The police, says a Foxton message, are investigating to ascertain if the stains are of human blood. Palmerston North detectives conducting' investigations into the Himatangi tragedy, know nothing of the- finding -of the -axe- : allegedly- blood stained -in the scrub near, the scene of the homestead, but point out that they have accounted for the two axes used on the farm. ': - . One of the axes they took into the scrub to chop kindling wood to boil a inid-day billy. This axe was very probably left where it was last used, to be found later by Mr. Robinson and his party.
