BELL BLOCK SPRING SHOW

ANNUAL SALE OF WORK CHOICE COLLECTION OF FLOWERS. PRAISE FOR DAFFODIL DISPLAY. The display space in the Bell Block hall was used to the full to exhibit adequately the large number of entries received for the spring flower and other competitive sections of the annual sale of work and flower show organised by the ladies of St. Luke's Guild and held on Saturday afternoon and evening. The scope of what was once a sale/of work was extended and the decision was justified by the display achieved with the ■ blooms entered. . • -■ The champion daffodil bloom of the show was exhibited by Mr. A. Palmer(Tikorangi), who also secured the points ■ prize for the daffodil classes. His champion Silver Dawn aroused much favourable' comment. The judge of all the flower classes, Mr. V. C. Davies, thoug't some of the exhibits were the best of their kind he • had seen this year. Generally the quality of the entries was high and. actually, considering the lateness of the season, the display of daffodils was wonderful. Fancywork was judged by Mrs. D. Blackley, the decorative classes by Mrs. • Church and the, cookery by Mr. E. May. The president of the guild is Mrs. ’ J. N. Street .and the joint secretaries Mesdames T. Potter and T. French.
