WOMAN BEFORE THE COURT. The rather unusual case of a woman appearing before the magistrate in New Plymouth on a charge of drunkenness occurred on Saturday morning. The police stated that she came from Gisborne and had arrived in New Ply- ' mouth by the Ngapuhi from Auckland on Friday morning. She obtained a bottle of” whisky, and was found by Constable King late on Friday afternoon in a state of intoxication near the Waiwakaiho bridge. She was taken to the lock up for the night and was released on bail on Saturday morning. “Oh yes, I was,” she said, when asked to plead in answer to the charge..
