CHARGE OF DRUNKENNESS
WOMAN BEFORE THE COURT. The rather unusual case of a woman appearing before the magistrate in New Plymouth on a charge of drunkenness occurred on Saturday morning. The police stated that she came from Gisborne and had arrived in New Ply- ' mouth by the Ngapuhi from Auckland on Friday morning. She obtained a bottle of” whisky, and was found by Constable King late on Friday afternoon in a state of intoxication near the Waiwakaiho bridge. She was taken to the lock up for the night and was released on bail on Saturday morning. “Oh yes, I was,” she said, when asked to plead in answer to the charge.. The convicted and discharged her, but warned him that if she came before him again he would have to deal with her in a different manner, ?- ■ -
