INCREASED HOSPITAL FEES
BOARD’S DECISION'. Jly Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. 27. By nine votes to three the XV ellington Hospital Board has raised the fees from 9s to 12s per day for adults, and from to Gs for children. Some of the scales for special treatment, such as X-ray, are also raised. The chairman said the total cost of the hospital was £228,538. Last year the expenses had continually gone up. Maintenance per bed had. increased in six years from £l7O 18s to £l9O 12s, while out-patients had increased from 12,777 to lnterest charges had increased from £3546 to £16,735. The opposition to the increased rates came from members who believed in a free hospital for all, and that the- country at large should find the cost.
