The John arrived at New Plymouth last night from Lyttelton and is to proceed to-day to Port Waikato and Lyttelton. (Holm and Co.). The Progress left Dunedin on Saturday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Wanganui and New Plymouth, and is expected here to-day, proceeding the same day to Port Waikato. (Holm and Co.). The Totara is due at New Plymbuth from Lyttelton, Timaru and Wellington on Tuesday and is to return the same day to Wellington. (U.S.S. Co.). NEW PLYMOUTH-ONEHUNGA' FERRY The Ngapuhi, with 21 passengers and 140 tons of cargo, arrived at New Plymouth from Onehunga yesterday morning and returned last night. She is expected at New Plymouth again on Tuesday and . will return north the same night. DALVEEN WITH SULPHUR CARGO. The steamer Dalveen, 5193 tons, according to advice received in Auckland, has been chartered to load a full cargo of sulphur at Galveston, Texas, during October, for discharge at Auckland, New Plymouth, Newcastle, Sydney, Geelong and Adelaide. No advice of the vessel s movements has been received in New Plymouth. OAKBANK DUE ABOUT OCTOBER 10 The order of the Oakbank’s itinerary is not yet definitely known, but if the vessel discharges at Wanganui before coming to New Plymouth, which is probable, she should not be here before October 10. She will put out 1000 tons of asphaltum loaded at Tampico, Mexico. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Port Nelson, Sept. 27. —-Sailed: Corinna (11 p.m.) for New Plymouth. Auckland, Sept. 27.—Arrived: Golden Cloud (3 p.m.) from Los Angeles. Sailed: Maheno (12.15 p.m.) for Sydney. London, Sept. 26. —Arrived: At Honolulu, Niagara. Sailed: Cumberland, from Caracas Bay; Gustave Reuter, from Los Angeles. DREDGE’S LONG TRIP. Dunedin, Sept. 26. The new dredge Otakou, which was constructed by Messrs. Fleming and Ferguson, of Paisley, Scotland, to the order of the Otago Harbour Board at a cost of £124,876 delivered at Port Chalmers, is due here next month. The dredge works with hoppers and is 256 ft in length with 48ft beam, and her loaded draught is 15ft sin. Her full load capacity is 2000 tons and this can be dredged into the vessel in two hours. The engines generate 1450 horse-power. When fully loaded the Otakou will steam nine knots an hour and knots when in light trim. The Otakou is interesting as an oil-burner. The dredge is splendidly finished and is very powerful. She is fitted throughout with electric light and the crew’s quarters have every convenience. ' TIDES, SUN, PHASES OF MOON.
