NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth Cricket Club was held last night, when there was a fair attendance. The annual report recorded a very successful season, both as regards th© game itself, the honours attained, and the financial standing of the club. Congratulations were extended to the senior team, which won the northern division championship, and drew with Hawera Old Boys in the provincial play-off. Excellent team spirit was shown, and all games were enjoyed to the fullest extent. The northern division championship was won by . the New Plymouth Club after a play-off with Old Boys, the match being won by < the small margin of II runs. / Good form was shown by some of the senior players, continued the report. C. N. Kingston© headed the batting averages with 38.9, his highest score being 154. C. G. Clarke was second with 29.6, his highest score being 77 not out. 0. M. Nasmith averaged 27.2, his highest score being 85 not out. C. G. Clarke again proved himself a first-class bowler, his average for the season being 4.96. He took 52 wickets at a cost of 258 runs. E. Spcdding took seven wickets for 49 runs (average 7), W. Groombridge 35 wickets for 281 runs (average 8), and 0. M. Nasmith 35 wickets for 416 runs (average 11.9). Though the senior B competition was not won by the New Plymouth Club, the team acquitted itself very creditably, and should in the future be a very strong combination.

Congratulations were extended to 0. M. Nasmith, C. N.~ Kingstone, and C. G. Clarke, who were nominated for the country team, and io O. M. Nasmith, C. N. Kingstone, C. G. Clarke, W. M. Groombridge and P. F. Hawkins, who represented Taranaki during the season. The club’s financial position had considerably improved, and the club was able to commence the coming season with a credit balance, including material, of £ll 0s 3d. The liabilities were now nil, after being £8 Is at the beginning of last season. The committee was sorry to have to record with deep regret the untimely death of one of the club’s most promising young players, Mr. Clem Allen, and deepest sympathy wag . extended to his relatives. Thanks were due to the North Taranaki Umpires’ Association, North Taranaki Cricket Association, Mr. T. H. Bates, Dr. E. A. Walker and the Press for help rendered during the past season. The report was adopted.

Hawkins; delegates to the North Taranaki Cricket Association, Messrs. T. H. Bates, W. P. Nicoll and W. Groombridge senr. Subscriptions were fixed as follows: Seniors, 30s; juniors, 22s 6d (including 5s capitation fee), reducible to 17s fid if paid before December 1, 1929. Opening day was fixed for October 5. Votes of thanks were passed to the Press and outgoing officers.
