Three masked men daringly held up the manager and assistant of the Woollahra branch of the Government' Savings Bank this afternoon. The assistant, Thomas Holdsgrove, dived for a revolver under the counter and was shot in the leg. The men .then fired at the manager. N. Everitt, the bullet grazing his arm.
Apparently nonplussed by the unexpected resistance of the bank staff, the men raced away without attempting to raid the bank’s funds and escaped in a motor-car, the engine of which was running in front of the bank. The police have arrested three men on charges of robbery under arms and shooting with intent to murder.
