TONGAIIOE - M AXA WAPO U CL ÜB. The executive of the above club held its annual meeting recently, when the president (Mr. S. J. Tidswell) presented the report and balance-sheet. The president stated that the moyement to form the above club originating from Mokoia, had received excellent support from all the districts concerned, namely, Mere Mere, Ohangai, Whakamara, Manutahi, Mokoiu and part of Whareroa.
The executive’s thanks were due to those who had assisted in carting material to the beach, for loans of horses and rwaggons, for splitting piles and those who had assisted, with the erection and painting of the building. The building had been in use at the latter end of the season, and was much appreciated. The .reel and life belts had not come to hand in time for training purposes, but were ready for an early start this season.
The club’s financial position was satisfactory. Voluntary contributions from the different districts were "as follows: Ohangai £l4 7s 6d’, Mokoia £6 9s 6d, Whakamara £2 4s, Meremere £4 12s, Whareria £3, Manutah’. £l4 together with honorary members £1 ss, donation from Mrs. Hoddle 10s and proceeds from a ball held at Mokoia £8 Ils make up the total income. This left them with barely sufficient funds to meet liabilities, so a loan of £8 vas raised; The expenses consisted of material -for building (including tank) £44 Is 3d, belts and reel £l7 Gs, sundry accounts £6 Ils. Ordinarily this would have put the club in an excellent position, but the club had had the misfortune of having i + s building destroyed by a cyclone or whirlwind. The building was not insured. Some of the iron and timber could be used again, but the club would be faced with the expense of re-erecting the building. The president also expressed thanks to tho secretary, Mr. B. Duff, and to the members of the executive for the manner ir. which they had supported him during- his year in office. The report and balance-sheet was favourably commented upon and was adopted. . It was decided that the delegates should call meetings of their own clubs at an early date to explain the executive’s activities during the past year, and obtain suggestions as to ways and means of raising funds for the re-erect-in<r of the building, etc. Votes of thanks wer-' accorded the honorary auditor (Mr. A. K. Fyson), the Press and to the president for the manner in which he had carried out his duties during the year.
