CHURCH BENEFIT CONCERT

SUCCESSFUL WHITELEY EFOFRT. A delightful concert was given in the Whiteley Church hall, New Plymouth, last night, when a successful effort was mado to raise money for the church trust funds. There was a very large attendance, the hall being comfortably filled, and the audience showed their appreciation of the splendid programme given by enthusiastically recalling all the artists. At the conclusion, the Rev. Clarence Eaton, who presided at the concert and ably filled the role of. announcer, called upon the Rev. G. J. Cook to propose a vote of thanks to the performers. . Mr. Cook expressed his appreciation of the charm and vari t ty of the concert and moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs. Skelton, who arranged the programme and accompanied the artists; Mr. Ashcroft, who organised the concert and had done valuable work in raising funds, and the performers. His remarks were endorsed by Mr. Chatterton. The following was the programme: Mr. L. A. Bosworth (flute solo), Miss Irene Gilbert (song), Mr. V. Kerr (song), Mrs. Nelson Hill (elocutionary item), Mr. Jack Quin (song), Mrs. Ashley MacDonald (song), Mrs. Pat Allen (violin solo), Miss M. R. Lunam (song), Mr. H. Ibbotson (violin solo), Mr. H. GilmoreSmith (elocutionary item), Mr. and Mrs. A. B, MacDonald (vocal duet), Mr. N. H. Papakura (song), Mr. and Mrs. H. 11. Skelton (piano duet). The performers were afterwards entertained at supper provided by Mesdames Eaton, Ashcroft, Miss Chatterton and helpers, .
