TOTALISATOR HOUSE BURNED
MYSTERIOUS DARGAVILLE FIRE. RACING CLUB HEAVY LOSER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dargaville, Aug. 5. Fire early on Sunday morning totally destroyed the totalisator house of the Dargaville Racing Club at Awakino Point, together with a quantity of plant belonging to the club and a quantity of household furniture owned by A. J. Finch, temporarily stored there. The brigade turned out, but as the building is two miles from the town and out of the water supply area, nothing could bo done, and the fire made a clean sweep. The insurance on the building and plant is £450; that on the stored furniture is not known. The racing club will be a heavy loser as the building was a fairly substantial one. The origin is a mystery, as no one had been in the building for some weeks.
