CHARGE AGAINST THE DRIVER.

Auckland, Last Night. Arising out of the death of Samuel Leatham as a result of being knocked down by a butcher’s motor-van on Wednesday night, William David Weller, aged 33, a butcher, was charged in the Police Court to-day with negligently driving a motor vehicle while in a state of intoxication and causing the death of Leatham, and with <being intoxicated while in charge of a motor vehicle. He was remanded for a week on bail.
