DANCE AND CARD PARTIES.

A social was held in the Whiteley Hall, New Plymouth, on Wednesday evening, the Rev*Clarence Eaton pre-, siding.° Mr. Eaton traced the history of the church, and Mr. J. Ashcroft, secretary of the trust, outlined the financial position. Items were given by Mrs. P. C. Davie, Miss Edna Perrott, Mr. N. H. Papakura (songs), Miss Beth Haddon (recitation), and Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Skelton (pianoforte duets). Over 60 couples were present at the Fitzroy Surf Club’s annual dance m St. Mary’s Hall on Wednesday night. The hall was decorated in blue and white, the 'Surf Club colours. Supper was served by a ladies’ committee including Mrs. S. Bennett, Misses L. Hammond, T. Lister, J. Bennett and P. Tate. Messrs C. Plunjtree, J. Lomas, W. Moor, head and P. Wright were the dance committee.
