CHARGES OF FALSE

Seven charges of obtaining goods false pretences when he procured benzi and oil to the value of £3 12s 4d fr< various firms in Manaia and Opunal other than those to whom he was structed by his employers to go, w< heard by Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., at t New Plymouth Court yesterday agaii a man whose name was suppressed per ing the completion of proceedings, was remanded in custody until, t morning to enable the probation offit to make a report. Mr. R. H. Quilliam suggested that < fondant, who pleaded guilty, had r committed the full crime of obtaini goods by false pretences. Defendant thoug the employers would pay, which th did out oj his wages. His father wor guarantee proper work for him since had merely behaved recklessly witho realising what his actions involved. Resulting from a collision with a other ear on Smart Road, Barney Pr< ton was charged with failing to keep 1 car to the correct side of the road. 1 was fined £l, with £2 8s costs. A char of failing to pass the other vehicle*. < the correct side of the road was wit drawn by the police. - George Edward Laffey, who drove ear in Devon Street without a tail ligl was fined 20s with 10s costs.
