SEVERE DROUGHT IN N.S.W
STOCK BEING FED BY HAND INTENSE COLD KILLING SHEEP. GOVERNMENT PLANNING RELIEF. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian Frees Association. Received July 24, 9.45 p.m. Sydney, July 24. The major portion of New South Wales is experiencing one of the most severe droughts ever recorded. There is not a blade of grass for hundreds of miles in the western divisions and the stock is being kept alive by hand feeding. Intense cold is killing sheep and cattle.
■Wheat farmers are everywhere in dire straits and being forced to ask the Government for help to tide them over the difficult period. Tho Government is considering a scheme for general relief of needy farmers and pastoralists.
