The Rev. C. M. Newton will leave New Plymouth for Wellington to-day. H<3 will return ou Saturday.

Mr., Mrs. and Miss Jackson, Mangorei, returned last night after a fortnight's trip to the South Island.

Shareholders of the Oaonui Dairy Company yesterday passed a vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. W. Hr Tippins.

The Rev. J. D. McL. Wilson returned to New Plymouth from Turakina yesterday. Mr. Wilson went to Turakina last Wednesday to exchange pulpitu with the Rev. R. H. Catherwood.

..Mr. C. E. Wells was yesterday reelected chairman of the Warea Dairy Company, a position ho has held since the company was formed eight years ago. He had been chairman of the old Warea Company for the last two years the Newall Road branch was linked with it.

Reference was made at the annual meeting of the Warea Dairy Company yesterday to the approaching departure of Mr. F, Johns and family from the district, where, it was stated, they had been splendid settlers. The chairman of the company (Mr. C. Wells), on behalf of the suppliers, extended good wishes for their success. in their future horn© at Richmond Road.

Dr. W. A. Sledge, B.Sc., Ph.D., of the staff of Leeds University, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Ruahma from London. On Friday he proceeds to Christchurch. He makes Canterbury University College his headquarters for the period of about six months which he will spend in New Zealand, but a large' part of his time- will be occupied in travelling to various parts of th® Dominion, to engage in botanical work. He will collect a number of specimens for Kew Gardens. The- death occurred at the New Plymouth Hospital yesterday afternoon of Mr. Patrick Jones,-brother of Mr. Michael Jones, formerly of New Plymouth, but now of Wellington. The late Mr. Jones was born in County Monaghan, Ireland, in 1862. He came to New Zealand over 20 years ago and settled ill New Plymouth, where he resided until his death. During practically the whole time he was in New Plymouth Mr. Jones- was a member of the Borough Council staff. He is survived by ft daughter, Miss Mary Jones, New Uymouth. His wife died many years ago.

Mr. A. F. Neilsen, general manager of the Pihama Dairy Company for the past 15 years, has accepted a position with a newly-formed New Zealand company as its sole Australian . organiser and representative for exploiting a new process for butter Mi. Neilsen leaves for Australia in about ft month’s time. He will be greatly missed in dairying circles throughout the Dominion, as ho has been for several years Dominion secretary of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association, and at the last meeting of the association was appointed representative o that body on the Dominion Council oi Scientific and Industrial Research.
