MONSTER' SPECIAL PROGRAMME.

“Adoration,” a First National production starring Billie Dove and Antonio Moreno, and “The Physician,” an excellent British p-.duction starring Miles Mandcr, Elga Brink and lan Hunter, will both be shown on the big change of programme that commences a threenight season at Everybody’s Theatre, New Plymouth, to-night. “Adoration” is a drama of Russia and France in the days of the revolution and afterwards. The story tells of the Prince and Princess of Muscovy, who are torn apart when the red tide flows over the land and through an error the Prince believed the Princess unfaithful. In the end it all results in happiness, even when the luxuries to which they have been accustomed have been stripped, away. Wonderful acting, excellent..photography, and tha most powerful story seen on the screen for a long time, are, among the outstanding merits of the. new British j Dominions film, “The Physician,” which has been adapted, from Henry Arthur Jones’ famous play of that. name. Acting honours undoubtedly .go to Miles Mander as the dipsomaniac:, Walter Amphiel, who, in his healthy hours, strives hard as a temperance reformer to warn others of the evil of drink. Beautiful Elga Brink is his lovely fiancee, who is loved bv “The Physician” (lan Hunter). The subject is so daring, and the story so intensely dramatic, that the film has considerable power over .the spectator, whether he likes it or hot. This is undoubtedly the British picture of the year, and should not be missed. , The supports include “Songs of Italy” (a Music Master series), and Gaumont Overseas News. Everybody’s orchestra will be !r > attendance. THE PEOPLE’S. BIG U.F.A. PRODUCTION. “When Duty Calls” is • the title of the U.F.A. Company production which will be screened at the People’s Theatre, New Plymouth, to-night and tomorrow night. Produced by tllc famous European director, Eric Waschncek, the picture is a thrilling tale of the peiHs and hardships endured by. firemen. in the course of their occupation, starling two promising young, juveniles, Helga Thomas and Henry Stuart. The picture depicts an old man discharged from the fire brigade on account of his old age. His daughter, a maid to the star at a bit* theatre, falls in love with the superintendent, who has caused the dismissal of her father. Exciting sequences follow, in which the theatre at which the girl works is set on fire. A thrill follows, when the rejected fireman fights his way through the crowd and enters the flaming building and rescues his daughter, ami also the superintendent, who was hit on the he_d by a falling, beam. The supports include Path© Review, Cartoon, U.F.A. gem and Interest (playing tennis).

THE KENTUCKY JUBILEE SINGERS. The wonderful popularity won by the Kentucky Jubilee Singers, who are to make their only appearance here under’ the direction of J. and N. Tait at the Opera House on Wednesday, was proved op their last in America recently. A record audience gathered to bid them farewell, and great enthusiasm prevailed during the 'whole of their performance, which aid not conclude owing to the large number of encores, until well after eleven o’clock. At the. final fall of the curtain the whole of the principal artists were called and the audience stood up en masse and cheered them again and again.
