TOUR OF EARTHQUAKE AREA
BETURN OF GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
By Telegraph—Press Association.
Nelson, Last Night. ' The Governor-General and his party were lucky in arriving at Murchison from the West Coast last evening. Had the party been a day later it would have been subjected to 24 hours’ delay by a slip which came down at Devil’s Elbow near Warwick Junction, on the Reefton side of Murchison. The slip will be cleared for the resumption of traffic to-morrow.
The Governor-General passed through Nelson this evening on the way to Wellington. Last night was spent in- Murchison and this morning an inspection of that district was made. Their Excellencies left Murchison this afternoon in time to connect with the Matangi at Nelson this evening for Wellington. The central earthquake fund is over £75,000.
