The weather will be cloudy and unsettled in western districts and Otago, with rain. Elsewhere it will be fair at first, but later will become unsettled with squally conditions becoming general. Winds will be moderate to fresh northerly to westerly and inci easing. Winds will reach gale force at places south of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint, later backing to south-westerly in the south. Seas will become rough on the west coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits and elsewhere will be moderate.
