EXPLOSIVE FOUND IN COAL
DISASTER AT GASWORKS AVERTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, July 23. The timely discovery by an employee of the Sumner gasworks of a plug of explosive in a load of coal prevented a probable disaster. When found it was still in the paper wrapping supplied at the factory. Though it measured five inches long, it was not noticed at the coal yards.
