AUROA. (From Our Own Correspondent). A record attendance greeted the final play-off in euchre and ping pong on Friday night, when great interest was, shown in the final contests. The ladies points prize for the season, a manicure set, for euchre was won by Mrs. Kruse, who played off with Mrs. W. B. Brown. The gents’ prize for the season (a fountain pen) was awarded to Mr. Blackstock, after playing off with Mr. W. Bradford. For the evening’s euchre, a tea cloth for the ladies’ prize was won by Mrs. P. Duggan, while Mr. John Lyndon gained the men’s prize for the evening (a pull-over). The ladies’ ping pong prize (a cup, saucer and plate) was won by Mrs. Wood, w'ho had to play off with Miss D. Corbett. The men’s prize (a thermos flask) was awarded to Mr. G. Surgenor, who played off with Mr. A. Surgenor. A good supper was provided and Mrs. Wood supplied the dance music, while extras were played by Miss Lilian King. Mr. W. Bradshaw is an inmate of the Hawera public hospital. . . A social and dance will be held in August in aid of the earthquake reliei fund. Old time dances will occupy the first part of the programme. The school children are busy, too, practising for their fancy dress bal, which has had to be postponed a wee k later. Auroa residents are still keenly looking forward to the time when electric light can be installed.
