STONES THROWN AT POLICE PICKETING DEMONSTRATION ONE CONSTABLE INJURED By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian Press Association. Sydney, July 20. The police were stoned by timbeJ strikers during a mass picketing demonstration outside Hudson’s timber yard at Glebe, as the volunteer workers were leaving the yard. There were over’ 200 police in attendance as escorts and 2000-strike pickets, who, urged on by women, attempted to isolate the volunteers, ■ . J Four meh were arrested during the demonstration and one constable was injured by a flying missile. The police succeeded in keeping the strikers back while the workers reached their trams.
Women spat at the police and the volunteers and shouted abuse as they passed. After singing revolutionary songs the strikers dispersed.
