The Oxford-Cambridge tennis team, playing at Newport, took. the second leg for permanent possession of the Prentice Cup, having won 15 matches to the six won by Harard-Yale at the end of the tournament. All the American victories .were in the singles. To-day Wright, of Yale, beat Cooper, 6—3, 6 —l, and Dericou beat Ingraham in a.match lasting two hours. Wright and Dericou were the only men to take two victories during the tournament. Holloway, of Yale, defeated Young. In the doubles match Young and Avory defeated Wright and Holloway, 6-3, 6—o, 6—3.
loung’s match against Wright was the most sensational feature of tho tournament to date, running to a 24 game set.
Young, playing brilliantly, gave a spectacular exhibition, winning this marathon set by thirteen to eleven, but later tired from his efforts and faded before the steady, resourceful tennis which the Yale player unfolded, ultimately losing the deciding sets 6 1, 6—4.
Dericou (Oxford) defeated Whitbeck (the Harvard and Yale captain), 6 —l, 7 —5. ’ j
Avory (Cambridge) beat Weed (Harvard), 10—8, 6—4.
