EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND
EGMONT VILLAGE BESPONSB. A successful dance was staged at figment Village on Friday night in order to augment the earthquake relief fund. Splendid support from residents of the district made it possible for the organisers to hand £l2 to the Daily News fund. An excellent dance programme was gratuitously given by Harris’ orchestra and a number of visitors were conveyed from Inglewood in Mr. Old’s car. Over 100 dancers were present and the merry gathering was enjoyed until the early hours of the morning. The organising committee was composed of Mr. Gordon Marsh (chairman), Mr. W. Guilford (secretary and treasurer), Mesdames Keenan, Marsh, H. Marsh, Guilford, Messrs W. Keenan, H. Marsh, J. iMarree and R. Hurlstone. The hall committee granted a rebate of 10s on the charge for the hall and contributions from° Mr. G. Marsh (£1), Mrs. W. Bishop (ss) and Anonymous (ss), helped to swell' the fund to £l2 Is 9d.
