FOSTERING HERD-TESTING
CENTRAL EXECUTIVE MEETING.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Wellington, July 19. At the first meeting of the Herd-Test-ing Central Executive, a body of eight members recently set up by the Minister of Agriculture, Air. Dynes Fulton, Hamilton, presided. It was considered desirable to appoint a capable organiser, whose duties would not only include organisation work but would also operate in the direction of assisting to maintain herd-testing work on an efficient basis. It was agreed that this officer should be appointed by the New Zealand Herd-Testing Federation and that it be a recommendation to the Government that a grant bo made in connection with the necessary expenses
The executive resolved that, while recommending the herd-testing movement should, continue, to be fostered by Government assistance in the form of an annual subsidy or grant, its aim should be the bringing about of conditions which would enable the movement to be self-supporting. The department advised that the necessary declarations regarding the payment of last year’s subsidy had now been sent\out and,'as soon as these were received back in proper order, the money could bq paid. Permission had been granted where circumstances render such action necessary for the associations to utilise the cash for current expenses, so long as .it was passed on to the members not later than October 20. It is anticipated that the establishment of this representative body, all the members of which take a keen interest in herd-testing, will be of great value in consolidating and furthering this very important movement. -
