FATALLY GORED BY BULL
INQUEST ON FARMER’S DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A verdict that death was due to collapse of both lungs following injuries received through being gored by a bull was returned at the inquest concerning the death of J. C. Rimmer, farmer, Helensville, on the afternoon of July 10. Arthur John Skelton said he saw deceased enter the paddock and he was immediately followed by his bull. Deceased was tossed and gored continually by the animal. Witness endeavoured to stop the bull’s onslaught with a pitchfork while his wife summoned the man who shot the bull through the eye. Deceased, who was conscious at the time, request I that this should be done. “The bull was dangerous,” said witness in reply to the coroner (Air. F. K. Hunt, S.M.). “He had attacked my son previously and I was forced to use a pitchfork on it. People generally consider their own bulls are not dangerous, and Rimmer thought his bull was merely obstinate.”
