BURGLAR PLEADS GUILTY
HOLE BURNED IN DOOR. COMMITTAL FOR SENTENCE. Bj Telegraph.—Press Association. Taihape, July 16. A plea of guilty was made by Gilbert Douglas Pryce, a labourer, aged 25, in the Taihape Police Court to-day, to two charges of breaking, entering and theft at Taihape. The charges preferred against Pryce were that on June 20 he entered by night the shop of Frank Hamill, hairdresser and tobacconist, Taihape, and stole goods valued at £l4 14s, and that on the same date he broke into the premises of Allan Smith, billiard saloon proprietor, Taihape, and stole a small sum of money. The evidence showed that Pryce gained entrance to Hamill’s shop by burning a hole in the door large enough to admit his hand, so that he could turn the key. Smith’s saloon and Hamill's premises form part of the same building. Accused had nothing to say and was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence.
