DRIVER’S NARROW ESCAPE
ACCIDENT AT KAIAPOI FORD. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Christchurch, July 17. Ernest Bristow, a married man, had a narrow escape from drowning when crossing a ford on the main drain, two miles from Kaiapoi. His horse stumbled and the dray struck the piles of the railway bridge and overturned. Bristow clung to the piles and was assisted from the water in an exhausted condition. The horse was drowned.
