RAPID CHASE SUCCEEDS
PUBSUTT OF CAB BY POLICE By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, July 16. A thrilling 50 miles an hour chase of a motor-car by a constable and a garage proprietor took place last night from Pahiatua to Whakaronga, when a youth, it is alleged, entered premises at Pahiatua and unlawfully took possession of a motor-car valued at £390. Immediately the owner’ discovered the car was missing he set off in pursuit, accompanied by a constable. A race then followed, and although the car was said to have been travelling at 50 miles an hour in places, it was overhauled close at Whakaronga. The final scene was enacted this morning, when the youth appeared in the Children’s Court at Palmerston North. Ho was convicted and ordered to be returned to the Weraroa State Farm, from which ho had been licensed out to his employer.
