CINDERELLA PANTOMIME

PRESENTATION BY CHILDREN. Cinderella, a pretty children’s play, was staged at St. Andrew’s Hall, New Plymouth, last night. Interspersed among the scenes were numerous items all given by children. The play itself was the old nursery story of Cinderella, the ugly sisters and Prince Charming. The arrangement of the who!® pageant was due to Misses R. Thompson,; Lovell and Mrs. Turner. ' Playing the leading role of Cinderella, Miss P. Davidson was .a delightfully demure little figure, especially in those scenes where, clad in grey, she. waited patiently on her two sisters (Misses J. Mills and L. Dunn). One of the prettiest scenes was that in which the Baroness (Miss M. Stevens) sept the sistera off to the ball with the motherly advice, “Mind you try your best tonight to get good husbands.” Daintily costumed, Miss S. Turner made a de- • bqpjiir Prince Charming, while Missefl E. James and J. Patrick, .as courtiers, and Miss M. Grainger as the fairy godmother, all played their parts to perfection. Absolute lack of self-conscious-ness was a noticeable feature of the ‘entertainment, and it was i’JJP 08 ?!"® not to see that every one of the actresses and actors enjoyed themselves thoroughly. . n Individual items, which were all well received, were rendered as follows:—* Pianoforte duet •by ■ Misses C. Wilson and B. Edgecombe; pianoforte solos by Misses P. Purser, C. Wilson and B. Edgecombe; recitation by . Horton; mouth-organ solo by Mas H. Maxwell; song by Miss W. Maple* beck- dance by Master D. Huggett. The proceeds, which were approxfc mately f 0 10s, will be donated to the new church fund.
