WOMEN’S DIVISION SOCIAL
ENTERTAINMENT AT INGLEWOOD. The Inglewood branch of the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union held a successful euchre party and dance - interspersed with musical items, in the town hall on Thursday. Music was sup*’ plied by Harris Bros.’ orchestra and warranted more dancers than were present. The euchre tournament was well patronised, 72 players participating, and as the takings were over £l9, it was very gratifying for a first venture. After expenses have been paid there will be a substantial balance. At the conclusion of the euchre th® president, Mrs. H. R. Marsh, announced tko winners and presented the prizes. The ladies’ first prize, a boudoir clock, donated by Mr. Maetzig, was won by Mies Burgess, The second, a silvermounted sugar basin donated by Mrs. Porter, was won by Mrs. Lawrence, The men’s first prize, a sucking pig donated by Mr. R. Sutton (president; of the Farmers’ Union), was won by Mr. Hislop. The second gentlemen’s prize, an aluminium saucepan donated by Mr. Parfitt, was won by Mr. Wells. l • . . Mr. T. Lindsay conducted the euchre, Mrs. Farris, Misses Nicholls and Leech. Messrs. McAllister and Smith gave in«sl» c al and elocutionary items which wer« much appreciated.
