EMPLOYERS BETRAYED
FALSE LIUOR SMUGGLERS. London, July 3. A German shipmaster and steersman were engaged to take a shipload of liquor to California. They were tempted by a reward of £13,000 for the surrender of tho liquor, and, as a result of the information they gave, the vessel was seized in American waters. They did not get the reward, however, and, in addition, says the Berlin correspondent of the Times, sentences of eight months’ imprisonment for the captain and 12 months for the steersman, for betraying their employers’ interests, have been confirmed by the Leipzig Supreme Court.
