The death occurred at the Taihapo hospital of Mr. William Salt, Wanganui, well known as an alpine climber and lover of nature.
Mr. David Davies, the noted Welsh tenor, has died at the age of 82, reports the United Service from London. The Rev, Father John Dowling, of the teaching staff of St. Bedes’ College, has been appointed rector of St. College, Wellington, reports the Press Association from Christchurch.
Messrs. W. Goodfellow, managing director of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company and of Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., W. Grounds, chairman of the North Auckland Dairy Association, and Picot will arrive in New Plymouth on Friday in the course of a tour of Taranaki. They will stay at the Criterion Hotel.
A Melbourne message says it is understood that the electoral board of the Anglican Synod, which is dealing with the selection of the new archbishop of Melbourne, proposes to offer the vacant 1 see to the Rev. Travers Guy Rogers, rector of Birmingham and chaplain to the King.
