CLIFTON ROWING CLUB BALL

PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. The Clifton Rowing Club’s annual ball which took place in tho club’s hall on Thursday, was a distinct success. The hall, a spacious one, was taxed to its utmost for comfortable dancing; 130 couples were present. The takings exceeded £45. Mr. W. R. Johns, th© president of the club, was absent on account of sickness. The Mayor, Mr. E. A. George, presented to winning oarsmen the medals and cups won . during th© season, which were. Richards and A. Chittenden (cox). The hall was decorated with greenery and the colours of the club. The ladies’ committee was Mesdames Spurdie, P, Jones, C. Aubrey, Sampson, W. Richards’ Brough, Ohlson, J. A. ‘Goodwin, C. Dimmer, Elliot and Miss Aubrev. The masters of ceremonies, who had no easy task, were Messrs. E. Waters, L. Byron and 0. Keith. The work of the secretary, Mr. H. Spurdie, contributed in no small measure to the success of the ball.
