An official bulletin this evening states His Majesty’s general health has further improved, but the sinus in the right side of the chest has ceased adequately to discharge and thereby secure the healing of the small residual abscess communicating therewith. It will therefore be necessary to directly drain and treat the abscess on Monday, The bulletin was signed by Sir Stanley Hewitt, Dr. Hodgson, Sir 11. M. Rigby, Dr, H. L. Martyn, Lord Dawson of Penn and Professor Wilfred Trotter. Professor Trotter is a distinguished surgeon at University College Hospital. The operation is a minor one and. will enable probing of the abscess to be car*, ried out in order to evacuate it from with*
His Majesty spent yesterday and fo-day in the sunny palace grounds. The fact that the King will have to undergo another operation will cause regret, but it is considered there is no. need for alarm. The operation, though' slight, will naturally involve the use of an anaesthetic which, it is expected,; Dr. Shipway will again administer. '!• Court circles strongly emphasise that His Majesty is quite well in himself. The Prince of Wales called at the Palace immediately on his return from? the Hendon air pageant and had a long conversation with his father. Nurse Black is still in attendance.
