DAIRY PRODUCE PRICES. Mr. E. Griffiths has received the following cable from his London principals: The butter market is very quiet. STOCK SALES IN TARANAKI, PRICES CHANGE LITTLE. No change has occurred during the week in the prices for beef in Taranaki. Prices for store and fat ewes have been inclined to ease but otherwise firmness is evident in the sheep classes. The shortage of store hoggets and wethers is marked. Store cattle are few and dairy catle bring good prices. Pig‘prices have risen.

Messrs. Newton King, Ltd., report that no change in the prices ruling for beef has been effected during the week. Their.open markets are practically devoid of first quality beef and with this fact in evidence, requirements for North Taranaki consumption are fulfilled through the medium of private treaty, prices ruling being on a par with late quotations. Prices for wether mutton remain firm but those ruling for ewe mutton have a tendency to ease a little, this being due, no doubt, to supplies of the class being a little more plentiful than in the past. As with beef, fattenors prefer to sell in the paddock and requirements are fulfilled through this medium. Prices ftt present ruling are: Heavy prime fat wethers, £2; fat wethers, 37s to 38s; light and unfinished ewes, 35s to 365: heavy prime fat ewes, 29s to 30s; lighter 26s to 275.

Prices offering by prospective buyers for in-lamb store ewes have eased a little, this being due. no doubt, to the drop in the prices offering for wool. There are fair numbers of small lots offering, and, vendors meeting the market, sales are steadily being effected. There is a marked shortage of both hoggets and wethers, W’ith the result that the prices for both of these classes remain firm; in fact, prices for* the former have a tendency to harden. Few of any of the classes of store sheep are being submitted at fortnightly fixtures, with the result that the majority of the sales that are effected are made
