A particularly usefully-arranged book on cookery, entitled “Cookery Chats,” has just been compiled by an experienced Christchurch lady, “Katrine,” who has many friends owing to her excellent recipes and hints given through the medium of a weekly paper. The writer d ale with the values of foods and their application to everyday life for adults, invalids, and children, and also gives, separately, concise directions as to the proper way of cooking all kinds of food, so that these can be read by the beginner and not take up the time and attention of the e.-perienced cook. The recipes vary from the simplest to elaborate menus for dinner parties, and include a “Dominion Housekeeper’s Section” which will surely meet with the approval of all. The book is issued by Messrs. Simpson and Williams, Christchurch.
