GOLF AT WAIWAKAIHO

POSTPONEMENT OF MATCH. The Captain v. Secretary golf match, which -was to have been played at Waiwakaiho on Saturday week, has been postponed owing Jo the indisposition of the secretary (Mr. C. H. Wynyard). A ring match will be played in its place. AN EXTRAORDINARY FINISH. COLTMAN CUP CONTEST. The first of the matches in the third round of the Coltman Cup competition was played yesterday between A. -E. Conway and J. McNeill, when a close and -well-contested game ended in a rather extraordinary manner on the 18th green. Both were close to the green with their thirds. Conway played first and laid his ball about two feet from the pin in almost a direct line between McNeill’s ball and the hole. The latter chipped up and hie ball hit Conway’s into the hole, giving Conway the hole and the match. Apart from this rather extraordinary finish the game wa's a good one. Conway led early, but McNeill, fighting grimly, made up his leeway, incidentally negotiating a very difficult stymie on the 15th green, and was all square at the 17th, only to los< the last hole in the manner described.
