UNION BALL

SUCCESSFUL TE KIRI FUNCTION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual ball held at Te Kiri on Tuesday night under the auspices of the Farmers’ Union was a distinct success. The preparation was well rewarded and contributed largely to its success. The decoration scheme was the best seen in Te-Kiri for a long time. Chinese lanterns strung round the room gave a delicate and subdued lighting effect. The supper room was in keeping with the hall, being tastefully adorned with streamers. The catering arrangements, which were in the hands of Vinsen’s, Stratford, were first class. The members of the Farmers’ Union deserve credit for the best social event of the year, Messrs. S. Agnew (president) and J. McCarrison (secretary) being particularly deserving of praise. Barton's orchestra, which provided the music, proved popular, and with Messrs. H. Davison and D. Lind as M.’sC. to help them, they made a thoroughly enjoyable evening for the large attendance. Extras were played by Misses A. Collins, I, Corbett and Mr. W. Coxhead.
