MAGISTRATE HAS BIG LIST. MANY FINES IMPOSED. A large number of informations against motorists and cyclists were dealt with by Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., in New Plymouth yesterday. ■Charged with dangerous driving between Te Kuiti and Awakino on April 13, Herbert Evans pleaded guilty and was fined 20s and 22s costs.

Senior-Sergeant McCrorie said the accident occurred about noon when Evans overtook a small car. Then Evans saw a service car coming in the opposite direction, but he was going too fast to get between the two cars and avoid a collision.

On behalf of Evans, Mr. C. H. Croker said he had driven well over 70,0v0 miles and was accustomed to Wellington streets. Repairs had cost him £4B.

A fine of 40s with 10s costs was -imposed on William Hopkins for cutting the corner’ of Devon and Liardet streets when riding his motor’ cyclo on June 23.

For riding bicycles at night -without lights the following fines were inflicted: Allan W. Henderson (20s and 10s costs), David Beggs (20s and 10s costs). - “I shall dismiss this charge when Inspector Blyde tells me you have a reflector,” said the magistrate when Gordon Coad, a message boy, was charged with riding a bicycle without a red reflector.

“I got one the next day,” he said. “Well, show it to the inspector,” said the magistrate. Coad admitted riding without a light in St. Aubyn Street and was convicted and ordered to pay 10s costs. “It was in Devon Street for 1% hours on Friday, the busiest day of the week,” said Inspector Blyde when Murray B. Sefton was charged with allowing a van to stand for more than ten minutes. Sefton was fined 20s and 10s costs.

Having failed to give way to a motor cycle approaching on liis right iat the corner of Devon and Liardet streets, James Arthur Harding was fined 40s with 15s costs.

Because • he .did not give way to a vehicle approaching on his right at an intersection, Carlin J. Ducker was fined 40s with 18s costs. A charge of dangerous driving was withdrawn. John R. .Shepherd was fined 40s with 10s costs for not having an efficient hand-brake on his machine.

A charge of making an undue noise with his motor cycle within the borough was defended by Marcus Clarke, lie was convicted and discharged. .
