The weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards to-day was well attended and most prices were firm at late rates. Bobby calves were yarded in large numbers and realised good prices. The auctioneers quote: —

GOOD DEMAND FOR LAMBS.

| Messrs. AVwght, Stephenson and Co., I Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Johnsonville sale held today as follows:—There was a large yarding of both fat cattle and sheep. The bulk of lhe yarding comprised prime heavy quality bullocks, which sold at prices slightly easier than last week. There were no cows, heifers or vealers yarded. The wethers were mostly extra heavy weight of good quality, prices being on a pax’ with last week s rates. The ewes were of good quality, and met with keen competition, with prices showing a slight advance. The lambs submitted were of good quality, and met with keen competition. Prices were: Heavy show bullocks, £23 15s and £22 15s; extra heavy bullocks, £l6 10s to £l7 12s Gd; heavy bullocks, £l5 10s to £l6 7s Gd; medium bullocks, £l4 12s Gd to £l5 ss; wethers, extra heavy, £2 2s; heavy, 38s 8d; ewes, heavy, 30s 3d to 325; lambs, heavy, 27s Gd to 29s 7d.

The best priced heifer was Alinadale Sea Breeze, which was bought by Mr. W. B. Noble, of Durban, South Africa, for 120 gns. Mr. L. Clark, Manawaru, paid 115 gns for the bull Oakland KCB. At the London wool sales 9493 bales were offered, of which 2553 were from New Zealand. It was a wretched selection of all sorts, except the slipes, which were fairly good. The attendance was largo, and all sections were represented. The Home trade did most of the bidding. French buyers were reserved. There were considerable withdrawals for poor sorts. Prices, compared with the May closing rates, were: Merinos, good, 5 per cent, lower, shabby and faulty, 74 to 10 per cent.; crossbreds, line and medium, 74 per cent., low, par to 5 per cent, loxver; slipes, line and medium, 10 per cent., low, par to 5 per cent.; lambs, crossbreds, about 5 per cent, lower.
