When a Government officer, especially trained in his subject, delivers _ a lecture on a matter of such vital importance to'the dairy industry as the care and treatment of pastures, and backs up his remarks with an extremely interesting series of lantern lectures, there is much to be learned by paying careiul attention to the talk. At Midhirst last night a good attendance of farmers was keenly interested in the lecture, but it is doubtful if many will subsequently obtain tne full benefits from the mine of information then at their disposal. Farmers who take the trouble to attend such lectures, it has been suggested, should remember that there is nothing undignified about the presence of a notebook and pencil. If some of the more practical advice so freely offered were taken down by the farmers jn their own writing for their own use, it would be a compliment to the lecturer and would prove worth-while in the management of farms.
