CONTROL OF RUGBY

DISSATISFACTION OF CLUBS FEELING IN SOUTH TARANAKI. CONFERENCE OF CLUBS CALLED. A meeting of representatives of all the football clubs in the southern division of the Taranaki Rugby Union’s district was held at Manaia on Monday Bveninor to discuss the control of club football. Mr. A. Lees (Okaiawa) presided over the following delegates: Messrs. Wilson and Hickey (Opunake), Rutherford and Bowen (Patea), Mortlock and Campbell (Hawera), E. Bourke, W. Bourke and A. E. McCracken (Waimate); Hammerslcy and Dawson (Kaponga), Attrill, Kasper and Pickard (Eltham). An apology was received from the Athletic Club delegates, but they intimated their willingness to support the suggested method of control. After discussion it was unanimously decided that in the opinion of the nicotine' the time had arrived when club football in Taranaki should be governed by direct representation of the chibs themselves. In order that the position should be more fully discussed it was decided to convene a conference of delegates from- all clubs in Taranaki, the conference to be held at Inglewood on Monday, July 22. Briefly, it is contended that the present divisions known as North and South should have full management of all club football in their respective areas. As a basis of discussion it was decided that the office bearers of the Taranaki Rugby Unioh should consist of one president and one vice-president, to be elected by each division in rotation, ■a three delegates representing the. northern division and three representing the southern division. These should constitute the management committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union and have full control of all representative matches, inter-divisional matches, and play-off matches, and of all finances relating thereto, protests and reinstatements. In connection with the management of club football, it is proposed that each division shall elect its own management committee, this to consist of one delegate from each senior club and the delegates from the other football organisations, the latter only to have a vote in matters affecting the interests they represent. It was, however, the unanimous wish of the meeting that before asking the Rugby Union to convene a special meeting to consider the matter the proposed scheme should be thoroughly discussed with a view to arriving at some unanimity. It. wag also made clear that whatever scheme is decided upon the present provincial aspect is to be maintained. Circularfl are Mo be sent to all clubs asking them to give their careful consideration to the matter and to reply to Mr. A. J. Christie, of Manaia, stating whether they will be represented at the Inglewood conference. MIMI SUB-UNION MATCH. URUTI DEFEAT URENUI.
