DIVIDEND TO BE RECOMMENDED. Auckland, Last Night. The directors of the New Zealand Insurance Company have decided to recommend to shareholders at the annual meeting on August 6 the payment of a dividend of lid a share for the halfyear, making a total disbursement, for the year of Is lOd. The dividend for the year is at the same rate as last year. HIDES AND SHEEPSKINS. SALE AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Messrs L. A. Nolan and Co. report holding a sale of hides, wool and skins yesterday. The usual representation of buyers was present and the catalogue was slightly above the average. Hides were mostly in splendid condition. Last month’s prices were maintained. Bidding was keen, the whole of the catalogue being sold. Ox hides met a sound market and were firm at slightly lower rates. Yearlings were easier by £d per lb. Calfskins, in demand, were sold at up to Ls.fd per lb. In sympathy with overseas sales sheepskins receded about Id per lb for dry skins and 6d to 9d each for salted. A large quantity of tallow was catalogued and last month’s prices maintained. Quotations are:—
